Vivo is launching three new X70 phones in September 2021

Recently, Steve H.McFly (OnLeaks) shared a few exciting leaks on the upcoming Vivo X series phones for 2021. He shared the details of three new models the X70, X70 Pro, and the X70 Pro+. All three models are offering impressive specs.

Steve shared 360 renders of the X70 Pro+ via Pricebaba. And renders of the vanilla and the Pro variant are available on MySmartPrice. With these phones, Vivo is offering the best combinations of camera, design, and power. It seems like they are bringing the competition to Xiaomi whit these new flagships.

After Xiaomi announced their Mix 4 a couple of weeks back, Vivo is not staying behind. They are offering their best with impressive packages.

Design

There is a new design coming with the X70 Pro+. Although the vanilla and the Pro variant look almost identical to the last year's X60 series, Vivo gave this year's X70 Pro+ a new look.

There is a two-stage camera housing situated at the back of the X70 Pro+. However, the second stage is wide across the width of the phone. It looks like a design inspired by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra's back. But this time, Vivo has given it a tweak.

The Pro and the vanilla 70 get a similar camera design on the back. Only this time, they seem to increased the size of the camera housing. They also have a two-stage camera bump like last year.

In the materials department, Vivo is also not compromising. All three phones are getting aluminum frames. The X70 and the X70 Pro get a glass back where the Pro+ variant is getting special treatment. It is getting a textured back panel for better grip. Just like last year, Vivo is offering the best in-hand feel with the X70 Pro+.

Display

The X70 series phones have almost the same display panels. They are all 1080p+ resolution. However, the size differs from model to model.

The Pro+ model gets a larger 6.7" panel, whereas the Pro and vanilla options get 6.56" and 6.5" displays. The Pro+ screen has 3D curves on the sides. Unfortunately, regular X70 and the Pro owners will get a flat display.

Vivo might distinguish between the refresh rate as well. Presumably, the Pro+ variant will have a 120Hz refresh rate. On the contrary, the X70 and X70 Pro could have a 90Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness between the Pro+ and others may vary as well.

After the Xiaomi Mix 4, companies are bringing their versions of under-display camera technology. Since Vivo has not shown any progress from their end, their under-display tech may still take time.

Processor and RAM

Vivo is segregating the X70 and X70 Pro from the X70 Pro+. They are getting different SoCs from different manufacturers. Although there are two suppliers for the chipsets, the performance will be barely distinguishable.

On the vanilla X70 and the X70 Pro, Vivo is putting the Dimensity 1200 chipset. Along with the best SoC from MediaTek, both models have 8/12GB of RAM. So, users will not feel any difference from the other flagships of the markets.

The Pro+ variant is getting the industry leader of chipset this year. Snapdragon 888 with 8/12GB of RAM is plenty enough for android 11. GSMArena speculated the X70 Pro+ to come with the new OriginOS 1.0. Whether Vivo offers the new optimized OS or sticks with the same old FunTouch OS is yet to be seen.

Camera

Vivo's flagships have always been competitive performers in smartphone photography. This year, they are holding the reputation up with quad-camera setups in the pro models model. The vanilla variant is getting only three modules.

The X70 Pro and the X70 Pro+ are getting a quad-camera setup. There is a difference in camera resolutions, though. The primary camera is 50MP the Pro+, whereas the Pro variant gets a 48MP sensor. On the Pro+, consumers are getting some extra features. Periscope Zoom, Higher resolution sensors are the most distinguishable features between the Pro and the Pro+.

The regular X70 gets a triple-camera setup with a 48MP primary. It seems like the vanilla variant is lacking the depth sensor. Still, all three models could come with the gimble stabilization feature. Last year, Vivo impressed the world with this feature on the X60 Pro+.

Vivo is taking the "One More Thing" catchword from Apple with their new custom ISP. It is called V1, and Vivo has been testing this chip for 24 months. It will improve image quality with advanced-level computation photography.

For taking selfies, Vivo is offering the same 32MP Hole-Punch camera. At least all X70 users will get the same quality selfies.

Battery

According to @OnLeaks and MySmartPrice, the new Vivo X70 series phones could come with a 4500mAh cell. On the Pro+, the charging capacity will be 65W. Unfortunately, the Pro and vanilla X70 users will get 44W charging.

Release and pricing

All three models will launch in September. However, their pricing is yet to announce. Judging by the X60 series pricing, Vivo could start this year at $700 (INR 51,000) for the X70 series.

Conclusion

Vivo might not be showing off their new under-display camera technology. Still, they are offering their best with the X70 series.

What do you think of these three smartphones? Do they look attractive to you? Or do you believe Vivo can sell a lot of those?

Even while using OEM parts, this issue occurred. Apple introduced other components to their master plan to spoil the third-party repair shops.
